What to expect after your braces are removed
It’s normal for your teeth to feel a little sensitive in the days and weeks after your braces are removed. This happens because the enamel is adjusting to being fully exposed again. For your comfort, we recommend gradually reintroducing cold, hot and crunchy foods.
Do I need to wear a retainer?
Absolutely! Retainer usage is essential to keep your new smile in alignment. After your orthodontic appliance is removed, we will provide you with a custom retainer. This might be a fixed retainer, removable retainer or both, depending on your individual needs.
Teeth whitening after treatment
Straightening your teeth is just one of the ways we can enhance your smile! Whitening treatment can be a wonderful addition to orthodontic treatment to help you achieve your ideal smile.
We offer professional whitening services that can be completed from the comfort of your home. Because your teeth might be a bit sensitive after appliance removal, we recommend you wait a month or so before starting whitening treatment.
Dental care after treatment
After your braces are removed, it’s important to schedule a dental exam and professional cleaning. This helps ensure your teeth and gums are healthy and removes any tartar that may have built up around your brackets. At SmileLux, we offer Air Flow dental cleanings.
To maintain your oral health, we recommend you floss once a day and brush your teeth after every meal. Be sure to keep your retainer clean by following the instructions provided to you by your Specialist Orthodontist.
